5 Tips to Avoid Entrepreneurial Burnout

Posted by distinctivecoaching on May 21, 2009

Avoiding burnout for us entrepreneurs is key to having a strong, thriving business and happy life:

1.) Create your vision fully – List all the details, all the motivators and consequences of not attaining the vision

2.) Strategize your actions and make sure they are inspired actions – Productivity steps that energize and excite you. Don’t get bogged down with the little things that you don’t really enjoy. There is no one way to accomplish something; there are usually MANY ways. Work with someone to find out what those are, and how to get them done.

3.) Surround yourself with positive people and minimize time with energy draining people.

4.) Take time for yourself everyday, or in crunch time, at the very least every week. Do those things that relax you – read the morning paper in peace, have a cup of tea on the patio, walk, jog or bike for 30 minutes. Take a little time out of your day to refresh your mind and body. For me, bike riding on long trails is when I get the most relaxation, a good workout and fantastic business brainstorming, energy and motivation!

5.) And lastly, don’t go it alone. Work with others and get outside support. You’re not in it alone, and everyone benefits when we work together.

Hello Business Achievers!

In the spirit of sharing, helping reverse the recession, and providing sales to those that truly deserve it, I would like to introduce “Testimonial Tuesdays”!

http://snipurl.com/hey43 in the Facebook Group: “Achieve Your Ideal Business Now!”

I think Tuesdays are a great day for us to give a recommendation, testimonial or just kudos for a job well done to anyone we’ve worked with that we feel others could really benefit from.

For my first Testimonial Tuesday post and I want to give props to someone that has saved me hundreds of dollars over the past year, if not more:

I love the professional service and additional coverage she was able to provide at a much lower rate on my home, auto and umbrella insurance. I’ve been very happy with my rep for over a year. Let me know if you want Richele’s contact info to have her give you a great quote! Jason@DistinctiveCoaching.com

Please post your own Testimonials:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – CHICAGO AREA BUSINESS COACH AND ENTREPRENEUR UP’S THE ANTE FOR SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS

Posted by distinctivecoaching on February 1, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Feb 1, 2009

Contact:  Jason Rosado
(773) 829-1276

CHICAGO AREA BUSINESS COACH AND ENTREPRENEUR
UP’S THE ANTE FOR SUPERBOWL COMMERCIALS

CHICAGO – Business coach and owner of Distinctive Coaching, Jason Rosado, has found a way to “beat the big boys at their own game,” as he put it.

Today’s airing of the 2009 Superbowl XLIII (NBC) in Tampa, Florida at Raymond James Stadium will have some of the same old aspects from the national unofficial holiday as well as some new flashy features. Al Michaels and John Madden are slated as the announcers, with Bruce Springsteen and the E street band as the halftime show.

A thirty-second commercial will cost approximately $3,000,000 USD.  MillerCoors and their ad agency have devised a brilliant plan to take advantage of a cost-savings idea in this economy.

Miller High Life has filmed a one-second commercial, and bought the corresponding airtime for a reported $100,000. Obviously the cost savings is great, though when you take into account the shortened viewership of the spots, the math works out proportionately. However, the news of the one-second commercial format has already gotten much more publicity, at a much lower cost, than a normal 30-second Superbowl spot will likely garnish an advertiser.

When news of the cost-effective and innovative approach to advertising during “The Big Game” reached Rosado, he figured he could do one better.

After considering his options carefully, consulting with his wife (she helps keep him from “spending the farm”), his accountant, CPA, Warren Buffett, and Donny Deutsch, Rosado decided his best strategy was to go even smaller, and buy no airtime.

“These big-time guys and their teams of ad execs keep coming up with great ideas.  But they are not the only ones to see big profits from the Superbowl ad frenzy.  Not only was I able to save money from not having to buy a half-second slot from NBC, but I also didn’t have to pay for a fancy ad agency, writers, directors, actors, a film crew and a location shoot.  The way I see it, MillerCoors and all the other ‘big boys’ can have their day in the sun, but I’m going to have my cake and eat it, too!”

Rosado hopes this new method of not advertising attracts the kind of clients he loves to work with and that are just like him: no-nonsense entrepreneurs, home-based and small business owners and sales professionals that want to improve their strategy, upgrade their skills, increase their effectiveness and greatly grow their revenue. His ideal is to have each client create wealth, freedom and happiness while doing the work that they enjoy so much, unlike the 2008 0-16 Detroit Lions, who just got the money.

He believes that not advertising during Superbowl XLIII is a way to continue his life work towards those ends, and that both current and prospective clients will also find that they too can prosper by not advertising during today’s or any upcoming Superbowl event.

When reached for further comment and asked how he will spend the evening now that he will not be tied up in the Superbowl rat race, Rosado remarked, “Well, I guess my wife and I will go to our friends’ home, where we’ve been invited. I think we’ll all have a good laugh at MillerCoors’ expense when we see their one-second commercial and celebrate our good fortune, knowing that we’ve finally beat the big boys at their own game.”

He also mentioned that the Arizona Cardinals were originally from Chicago and that he might root for them, but that wasn’t nearly as interesting.

Quick Tip on Action, Strategy and Success

Posted by distinctivecoaching on January 30, 2009

Often times *action* is the single biggest factor that leads to success.

Take action. Any action. Just make something happen.

It’s ok if it’s not perfect – most people won’t notice.
It’s ok if it doesn’t work – you’ll learn from it.

Well, this time someone noticed. And I hope these guys learn from it. LOL

Business Lesson: Every once in a while and especially in high-risk/reward situations, make certain to also think through the strategy of your actions.

Your BizCoach,
Jason

Online marketing, Social networking and Client attraction for Sales success

Posted by distinctivecoaching on January 22, 2009

I have just read several blogs that deal with all these topics. Some were suggestions, some were rants, and others were just ideas to help others with sales.

I am a huge believer in networking and “mutually beneficial marketing”! I write articles, give teleclasses and live seminars. These are all forms of marketing and gaining exposure, but the goal isn’t to sell someone on something, but rather to provide useful, insightful info from my own experiences.

And now I am benefitting from the social networking arena – mostly Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Meetup and Ning – where they can all come together. So here is my take:

Successful online networking is not much different than in-person networking: Build your personal and business brand into a cohesive message and attractive experience.

The key to great networking is to develop relationships by:
• Connecting
• Finding common ground
• Being service oriented
• Providing great value – resources, content, ideas or connections

By doing all these, people can get to know you and at the same time enhance themselves and their business, while you expect nothing in return.

And the key to turning people off right away and therefore NEVER being able to make a sale:
• Beat them over the head with your sales pitch

People need to know, like and trust you.

Helping others without expectation is the easiest way to get that accomplished. Plus, others will be drawn to you as you truly are, not as some marketing guru wrote webpage copy to “spin” the real you. This starts off the relationship on the right foot, as people will know what to expect from you.

These are my philosophies, and they have worked very well. Here are two recent articles about online and offline networking strategies and skills here:

“10 Holiday Networking Tips”
www.tinyurl.com/Networking10Tips

“How can I use Twitter to draw business to my website?”
www.tinyurl.com/7dpqrm

Good luck, and please feel free to connect so we can help each other. :)

All the best,
Jason

Jan 19, 2009 – How are you celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day?

Posted by distinctivecoaching on January 19, 2009

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!

I hope everyone is doing something special today, be it big or little, to support Martin Luther King Jr. Day and all that this holiday and Dr. King himself stands for in America’s history and future.

Today I was asked to be a guest speaker at networking lunch in February that looks to be a celebration of diversity and civil rights in its own right.  The group will be composed of mostly women entrepreneurs from many races and backgrounds.  Under the main topics of networking, marketing and sales, I am looking forward to speaking specifically on how to broaden your network, help others, foster cooperation and collaboration, and be of service to one another.  Growing your business and leading a happier, more fulfilling life will just be awesome side effects.

I think it’s going to be a fantastic event!  Even though I am doing this for exposure and business reasons, I do feel very good about the group attending.  Just knowing that this kind of assembly of a diverse group of people with common goals and aspirations is a cause for celebration, because there was a long time in history when this would not have been the norm, acceptable and in some cases even legal.

I am very thankful and grateful for people of all races, creeds and colors that fought for centuries for civil rights in our country and continue to do so.  I am privileged and appreciative that I live and work, both virtually and in person, in communities in which I am able to meet people from different backgrounds with different experiences, preferences, opinions and points of view.  I hope that future generations will have even more openness, trust and caring across borders that will lift the nation and the world as we grow together in this new century.

Please share your thoughts, musings, and anything at all on this topic.

And enjoy today’s holiday and tomorrow’s inauguration, and many more todays and tomorrows to come!

All the best,
Jason

Q: A win-win situation in this economic climate?

Posted by distinctivecoaching on November 6, 2008

Are the current economic conditions effecting your marketing, sales and business revenue?  And just as important, are they effecting your mindset?

I believe it’s very important to not let the recession, down market, whatever you want to label it, get too much into your belief system about if people will spend money or not. Each customer is unique and everyone’s situation has hundreds of variables.

No matter what the economic climate is, any consumer is faced with a buying and spending decision at the moment of a sale. Great sales people will “coach the sale” — work with the prospect (not on, or against) to come to the best decision for the prospect. Make the interaction and decision-making process a real collaboration between the two of you.

This is a philosophy that I hold dear and teach to my clients as well. If you follow this mantra, and truly look out for your prospects’ wellbeing, you won’t make every sale, but you will get an outstanding reputation and lots of referrals, which will lead to even more customers and revenue. And that one that didn’t buy will be much more likely to revisit the opportunity later.

When you are selling, be an advocate for the potential client. Help them come to the best buying decision, and you will see less influence by the economy, better immediate results for your customers, and stronger long-term growth for yourself.

What tips, ideas, or suggestions do you have on the topic? Feel free to comment here and join the discussion on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=33103057507&topic=5894

Best,
Jason
