Supercharge Your Goals
What do you really want to accomplish and what’s been stopping you? Have you had the same goal for awhile now and feel like you’re not getting any closer to achieving it?
During this interactive workshop, you will learn how to set better, more achievable goals and how to stay motivated while you work to attain them. You will learn the four essential components of a well-planned goal, and some customized strategies to make, or remake, goals that matter most to you. The session will also give you some important tips and tricks on how to eliminate barriers, develop an effective support system, create accountability and determine exactly where you want to be so that you have a map to get there.
Please bring one or two current goals that you want to work on. You will leave this session with renewed energy, an actionable and sustainable plan and the focus to get – and stay – on track.
Dinner and refreshments will be provided.

On September 29, I am riding in a 50-mile organized bicycle ride in Mexico with a good friend. The route is from Rosarito Beach to Ensenada, through the hills and valleys and along the oceanside. My wife and I participated (and finished it) two years ago, and I am training for it again.

I rode 42 miles yesterday – from home to the North Branch Bike Trail; north on the trail to the Mile 11 marker; then back. The muscles just above my knees were twitching just a little bit towards the end of the ride, but otherwise no adverse effects. Today I feel fine!
I’ve been riding about once a week and adding distance each time. I think I need to do some shorter rides in between to help strengthen and not over do it on the longer rides. Finding the time to do it is tough.
I have been holding that vision of the countryside at the top of the hill and racing down the valley towards the ocean fresh in my mind as motivation. It was truly an incredible experience, and I can’t wait to do it again.
Also, this time, I will be better trained and in better physical fitness, so I should enjoy it that much more.
More to come on my preparation . . .

email from Bill:
Hello All:
I’m starting a new position as Director, Hr with a company in Madison, Wi. We (it’s so nice to be able to say that) have 225 employees in five locations within the city. I’ll have two staff.I was in my previous HR role for 18 years. It’s been sometime since I’ve started a new job. I’ll begin learning the business as quickly as I can, I’ll do an internal audit, sit down with staff and others to talk and listen. I’m looking for thoughts/ideas on getting started. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Billmy reply:
Hi Bill,
What was the most important/urgent needs of your hiring manager?
When I interview for a job, I like to ask “What are the top three things you would like to see the person hired into this position accomplish right away?” This communicates that I care about their objectives and priorities as well as gives me insight on many levels, including where to start if I get the job.
Aside from that, I am very much a team building and employee development person, so I like to start with meeting with each person I manage and determine their background—experience, strengths, wants, needs and expectations, and communicate my expectations for them. I like to find out their career goals and determine how those align with the business objectives so that both can grow together. Then I like to meet with everyone together as the team to go through a similar meeting as well as develop group cohesion and team identity.
Please feel free to email me if you have any further questions. I’d be happy to help.
Best,
Jason
